The Motley Fool shares some of the "hot stocks" for the past week. I'm familiar with only two of the five companies listed: Eddie Bauer (EBHI) and La-Z-Boy (LZB). Both of these companies have been around for quite some time and I'm a bit curious as to what is making them "hot" stocks.
Doing a news search for La-Z-Boy, I came across this article at Home Furnishings Business saying that La-Z-Boy is going to start offering eco-friendly furniture. Everyone is capitalizing on this idea of "going green", eh? My guess is that this is probably the reason why La-Z-Boy had a little spike in stock price. The $9.54 ending price on Friday is a far cry from what it was 3-4 years ago, but considering the state of the economy, we could say that it's a step in the right direction.
I couldn't find anything significant in the news or in blog posts on Eddie Bauer that would dictate an increase in the stock price. It may just be that the seasons are changing and people are shopping for jackets and outerwear for the fall season?
What stocks were good for you this past week?
